Middle Road Zendo
Middle Road Zendo was built to honor Maurine Stuart, Roshi in 1993 to continue Zen practice in the spirit of her teaching. In 2011 Middle Road Zendo joined with Stony Creek Sangha of New Haven and other practitioners throughout the northeast to form the East Rock Sangha, a collaborative to offer Zen training in the lay tradition of the Diamond Sangha, under the direction of Nelson Foster, dharma  heir of Robert Aitken, Roshi.

​Middle Road Zendo offers  instruction, and formal and informal sittings through the year. Sitting is open to all, beginners and veterans alike. Please make an appointment for a visit or an introduction to Zen meditation.

​Sesshin & Business Meeting on Martha's Vineyard Oct 30 - Nov 4  
 Middle Road Zendo is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual 3-Day Sesshin under the direction of Nelson Foster, Roshi. Sesshin starts at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30th until midday on Friday, November 2nd on Martha’s Vineyard. Full-time participation in the sesshin is expected. The sesshin will be followed by our Annual Business and Sangha Building Meeting commencing late Friday afternoon and adjourning at noon on Sunday, November 4. 
Space is limited. Please register online by September 17th and mail a check for $225 made out to “East Rock Sangha” to Arlene Stark Prisco. Your seat will be reserved once the check is received. Fee reduction is possible for those qualified. The sesshin fee covers an honorarium to Nelson and as always there will be opportunity for additional dana.
Please advise Arlene by email if you are attending the Annual Meeting only. A donation of $20 per day is suggested.
In your registration, please include any special needs, allergies, medications or other conditions that need to be addressed. 
It is possible to arrive on Monday to help with set up. Carpooling is recommended to defray cost and save time. You are expected to bring your own zabuton and zafu. Please advise if that is not possible. When making reservations to depart on Sunday please allow time for the restoration of the house to its original state.
